About these terms

These terms cover your use of carry.less, a thought-capture app made by Unfussy Labs. By using the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Two plans

carry.less is free to download. Every new subscriber gets the full app free for 3 days, an introductory trial that starts when you subscribe through your Apple ID. The trial applies once, to whichever plan you start with.

After the trial, a plan is required to keep using carry.less. There are two. Base costs $4.99 a month, with up to 20 AI-sorted dumps a day. Max costs $19.99 a month, with up to 200 AI-sorted dumps a day. Both include unlimited thought capture and typing, on-device sorting, reminders, and daily automatic local backups. A dump is one "Shelve these thoughts" submission.

Each plan renews automatically at the end of the trial, and then every month after that, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. You can switch between Base and Max at any time in your App Store subscription settings. Prices in other countries are set by the App Store and are shown to you before you buy.

Once a subscriber uses their AI-sorted dumps for the day, sorting falls back to the on-device sorter until the count resets the next day. This fallback is part of both plans, for the time between your daily resets, not a way to use carry.less without subscribing.

If a plan lapses, nothing is deleted. Your thoughts stay stored on your phone, and your daily backups stay where they are in the Files app. Subscribing again, to either plan, brings everything back.

Apple takes the payment. Manage, switch, or cancel a plan in your App Store subscription settings.

Restore Purchases re-links a plan that Apple currently shows as active, for example after a new phone or a reinstall. It cannot restore a plan that has already expired: the app reads your plan's end date from Apple's own record, and an expired plan has none left to restore. If nothing is active on your Apple ID, subscribing again through the App Store is the only way back in.

All payments are taken by Apple, so refunds are requested from Apple too, at reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple decides refund requests under its own policy. We cannot issue, deny, or partially grant a refund ourselves.

Backups on your device

carry.less keeps an automatic daily backup file in its own Documents folder on your device, and keeps the seven most recent days. You can open it in the Files app, copy it elsewhere, or turn automatic backups off in More.

Because the file sits in the app's Documents folder, it is included in whatever backup your phone already makes of itself, such as an iCloud or computer backup. Backup files are never sent to us. Saving a backup file yourself and restoring from one work as before.

Your content is yours

The thoughts you write in carry.less belong to you. We do not claim any ownership of them. You are responsible for what you write, and for keeping your own copies. The app can export your data, and the automatic daily backup keeps a copy on your device, so you always have one.

Using the app fairly

Please use carry.less for lawful, personal use only. Do not use it to break the law or to harm other people. Do not try to attack, overload, reverse engineer, or otherwise misuse the app or our servers.

The app is provided as it is

We work to keep carry.less useful and reliable, but we provide it as is and as available. We do not promise that it will always run without faults or interruptions.

carry.less is a notes tool, not professional advice. It is not a medical, legal, financial, or mental-health service, and its automatic sorting can be wrong. Please use your own judgement.

Limits on our responsibility

We are responsible to you for loss that the law says we must cover. Beyond that, we are not responsible for indirect loss, or for lost data, lost profit, or lost time that we could not reasonably have expected.

Keeping your own exported copy of your data is the best protection against loss. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

Changes to the app and these terms

We may add to, change, or remove parts of the app. We may also update these terms. If we make an important change to the terms, we will update the date at the top. If you keep using the app after a change, that means you accept the new terms.

Ending your use

You can stop using carry.less at any time and delete the app, which removes its backup files with it. "Clear all local data" in More removes every dump, thought, and setting first, if you want to; backup files already written stay until you delete them in the Files app. Deleting the app does not cancel a plan: cancel it in your App Store subscription settings.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales (this is where Unfussy Labs operates from). Disputes will be handled by the courts of England and Wales, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts.
